Navigating the Balance as a Mom Post-Divorce ✨

Hey there, Urban Mommy Tribe! 🌟

Today, I want to share a personal journey that many of you might resonate with—my transition back to work after becoming a mom and the unique challenges I faced, especially as a raising a daughter post-divorce.

After going through a significant personal life change to full time parenting to my incredible daughter, who is now 11, I was faced with the challenge of re-entering the workforce full-time. It felt like a massive leap transitioning from being a stay-at-home mom to balancing my career with being the present parent I always wanted to be.

I remember the overwhelming emotions—the guilt of wanting to provide for my daughter while still being there for her every step of the way. I longed to shower her with all the love and attention she deserved while navigating the demands of a career. It was tough—many sleepless nights and moments of self-doubt filled my journey. But through this challenge, I learned some crucial lessons about finding balance that I want to share with you.

👉 Quick Tips for Work-Life Balance:

  1. Set Boundaries: Create clear boundaries between work and home life. When work hours are over, unplug! You might have to make some sacrifices. I chose my daughter over salary and income. I know my value and worth so, taking that loss in pay I worth it when it benefits your kiddo. Be fully present with your daughter— you only get a limited time with our babies. those moments matter.
  2. Prioritize Self-Care: Make YOU a priority! Schedule regular “me time” into your week, whether it’s reading, exercising, dating again or just doing you… or just sipping a cup of coffee in silence. It’s your time. Take it. Check out myself care favs:
  3. Open Communication: Talk with your employer about flexible hours or remote work options. Don’t be afraid to advocate for what you need, especially as a single mom. This is a hard one more many moms. We are groomed to sacrifice. Well there comes a time when sacrifice isn’t enough you have to be bold about what you need and want and be prepared to jump in the deep .
  4. Stay Organized: Use planners or digital calendars to keep track of work commitments. This helps you see where you can squeeze in quality family time! (We have big new in one. ) something cool we have coming for moms. But take advantage of our free workbook
  5. Focus on What Matters: It’s okay to say no to extra work or social obligations. Concentrate on tasks and moments that bring you joy and fulfillment—remember, being present is what counts!

Sure, it’s a challenge juggling work and parenting, especially after a divorce or a life altering circumstance, but with love, intention, and a little organization, we can certainly make it work. You’re not alone in this journey, and together we can support each other through the ups and downs of motherhood!
