The Busy Mom Reset: Finding Yourself Again in the Middle of Real Life

I’ve been thinking about spring coming up and ladies it’s time for a reset! Over the next several weeks we will dive into resetting our lives for the better.

There are seasons of motherhood when life feels louder than you are.

Schedules pile up.

The house needs attention.

Work doesn’t slow down.

Your mind keeps running even when your body is tired.

And somewhere in all of that… you get pushed to the side.

If you’re feeling stretched thin right now, this is your reminder:

A reset doesn’t require a vacation.

A reset starts with small, gentle moments — every single day.

Not perfection.

Not pressure.

Just intention.

Start Small — Self Care Isn’t Always Big

We often think self-care has to be elaborate.

A spa day. A full weekend away. Hours of silence.

But real motherhood doesn’t always allow for that — and that’s okay.

A busy mom reset can begin with something as simple as:

Sitting down with your coffee before everyone wakes up Playing music that makes you feel calm Lighting a candle while you clean Stepping outside just to feel the air on your face

Self care isn’t about escaping your life.

It’s about softening inside of it.

Do Something You Like — Even If It’s Small

You are allowed to have preferences outside of being a mom.

Maybe it’s:

Watching a show you enjoy Journaling for five minutes Going for a short walk Reading one chapter of a book

The goal isn’t to add more to your to-do list.

The goal is to reconnect with yourself in tiny, consistent ways.

Because when moms feel connected to themselves, everything around them shifts.

Make Food That Feels Good To You

Sometimes nourishment is emotional as much as physical.

Cook something you want — not just what everyone else prefers.

It doesn’t have to be fancy.

A warm bowl of soup.

Your favorite tea.

A meal that reminds you of comfort.

Food can be grounding.

It can be a quiet way of saying, I matter too.

Really Breathe — Not Just Survive

Most moms live in a constant state of “go.”

Go here.

Do this.

Fix that.

But your nervous system needs pauses — even short ones.

Try this today:

Take one slow inhale.

Hold it for a moment.

Exhale fully.

Do it again.

Breathing is not just oxygen — it’s permission to slow down.

Reset Isn’t About Becoming Someone New

A busy mom reset isn’t about reinventing your life overnight.

It’s about returning to yourself — gently.

You don’t need more pressure.

You need more grace.

Maybe your reset today looks like:

Saying no to one thing Asking for help Sitting down instead of pushing through exhaustion

Small choices add up.

From One Mom to Another

You don’t have to do everything perfectly to be a good mom.

Your presence matters more than perfection.

Your peace matters more than productivity.

And your well-being shapes the energy of your home.

So today, choose one small act of care.

Not tomorrow.

Not next week.

Today.

Urban Mommy Reflection Moment

Before you move on with your day, take a moment for yourself.

Grab a notebook or a quiet space and reflect on this:

What am I feeling right now? What do I need more of in this season? What am I holding onto that I can release?

If you’re ready to go deeper, I created a guided journal through Joseph House Books to help you slow down, process your thoughts, and reconnect with yourself in a meaningful way.

Because healing doesn’t just happen in our heads — it happens when we take the time to sit with ourselves.
